UPDATE: Teen charged in Regina's third homicide of the year

A 16-year-old boy is facing a charge of second-degree murder after Regina's third homicide of 2012.

The charge comes after a fight turned deadly Sunday night.  Regina police recieved a call about a fight shortly before 10 p.m. in the area of 5th Avenue and Rae Street.

EMS provided emergency treatment to Derrick Amyotte, who was found a block away at 5th Avenue and Retallack Street.

Police took the boy into custody at 5th Avenue and Rae Street.

The 31-year-old died in hospital at about 11 p.m.  The Regina Police Service said he was fatally wounded in the fight.

The charge was laid against the teen Monday night.  His name will not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.  The boy will make his first court appearance in Youth court Tuesday morning.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said the teen was arrested a block away from the location of the fight. It was the victim who was located there.
