There will be a new and affordable place for people to live in Saskatoon.

The Lighthouse Supported Living Centre opened up aplications to their affordable living tower.

"We've been getting applications in, meeting with people, and answering a lot of questions about it," said general manager Jordan Cooper.

Cooper said that he was surprised when they received about 18 inquiries within the first hour, but he is not shocked by the level of interest.

He said that there is a big need for affordable housing in the city.

"We aren't really surprised by it," Cooper said.

The location in the heart of downtown also provides convenience.

"You are looking at probably a two-minute commute for people working retail or whatever who can really benefit from less expensive rent," Cooper said.

They have already accepted the first resident and the tower opens in September.
