The only access road into a northern Saskatchewan community is impassable.

Highway 915 into Stanley Mission was washed out over the weekend.

Councillor Lestor Roberts says the community is OK right now but the government needs to work fast.

"As far as deliveries, there is like eight semi-loads of stuff that comes into the community in one week," he said.

Roberts says there are some community members stuck in Prince Albert and La Ronge.

He adds the stretch of road affected is about 40 feet long and there is a seven-foot drop.

The Department of Highways is working on the problem, including installing some temporary culverts.

Spokesperson Doug Wakabayashi says weather permitting, they hope to have Highway 915 reopened by Wednesday.
