A fire ripped through a home at 413 Mowatt Crescent in the Confederation Park area of Saskatoon Friday.

A woman and her dog got out safely, but the blaze caused $225,000 in damage.

While firefighters were working through the rubble they also found the owner's pet cat, which also managed to survive.

The cause of the fire is said to improper disposal of smoking material.
