There were some star struck moments at Saskatoon’s river landing Thursday afternoon when hundreds of hockey fans lined up to get autographs and shake hands with celebrities including Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Saskatoon's Luke and Brayden Schenn.

About 500 people were already in line by the time the event started at 4 p.m. and more arrived by the minute.

“I was just shaking. I know it sounds stupid, but once you play these guys on video games and stuff and then you get to meet them in real life, it was good,” said one fan after going through the line.

Some people drove in from out-of-town for the event including a family from Hague who said they were thankful school was out early, so they could beat the crowd.

The autograph event is part of the Luke and Brayden Schenn Celebrity Golf Classic taking place today at 11 a.m. at the Moonlake Golf and Country Club.

Money raised will go to support the Royal University Hospital’s campaign to bring the province’s first full time cardiac electrophysiology lab and program to treat people with a heart rhythm disorder.
