The
University of Saskatchewan Huskies were 39-34 winners over the UBC Thunderbirds in Canada West
football on Saturday afternoon in Vancouver.
Two fourth quarter touchdowns
allowed the visiting Huskies to leave David Sidoo Field at Thunderbird Stadium
with its second victory of the season.
Huskies receiver Kit Hillis caught 14
Drew Burko passes for 224-yards and three scores, one short of the single-game
conference record for receptions and just shy of the top 10 single-game
receiving yard totals.
Mitch Stevens hauled in a 15-yard major from Burko at the
4:43 mark of the fourth quarter to put the visiting Huskies up 36-31, a play
that would end up as the winning score. Chase Bradshaw and Mitch Stevens also
had touchdown for the "Dogs".
Taylor Souster, Billy Greene and Jordan Grieve
found the end zone for the home side.
With
the win the Huskies moved to 2-1 in the Canada West standings, while UBC
fell to 0-3.
The
Huskies host the Regina Rams on Friday night at 7:00 p.m., at Griffiths Stadium.
