Friend of Brandy Wesaquate hopeful she will be found
It has been more than a month and friends and family still have not seen or heard any sign of a Regina woman who seemingly vanished on New Year's Day.
Police and volunteer search teams have combed through different parts of the city's north central neighbourhood three times now. They have failed to find any clues as to where Brandy Wesaquate might be.
Brent Humphrey is a friend of Wesaquate’s and he saw her less than a week before she disappeared. He said she seemed to be pretty upbeat and was shopping for groceries.
“I chatted with her quickly, she said she was thinking of going to Winnipeg,” Humphrey added.
Elizabeth Popowich with Regina Police said they have heard similar reports throughout the investigation and they have alerted other police departments. Police and search crews are continuing to focus on the area around Rae Street where Wesaquate was last seen leaving a house party.
Although 38 days have passed with no sign of her, Wesaquate’s friends still remain hopeful.
“If she ends up hearing this on the radio hopefully she realizes what kind of emotions everyone is going through trying to figure out what is going on with her,” Humphrey said.
“Everyone is wondering where she is and what is happening,” he added.
Saturday marked Wesaquate’s 29th birthday and 350 people joined a Facebook page to offer condolences that she did not come to celebrate.
