Family OK after minivan is pushed into train
A mother and her two kids are OK after their minivan was hit by a train near Humboldt.
The family was stopped at a railway crossing just west of the town at 6:15 p.m. Monday night when they were hit from behind by another vehicle.
The impact launched the van onto the track.
Sergeant Paul Dawson with RCMP says the three had to be removed from the vehicle but they were not seriously hurt.
“It’s something we’ve seen a bit of recently. There was another one in Lumsden a few days ago. We certainly want people to be vigilant when they are at those railway crossings so something like this doesn’t happen,” said Dawson.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
