Drop in donations at Regina's Souls Harbour soup kitchen
Summer is a time for vacations and outdoor barbecues, but charities that provide food for those who struggle to find enough sometimes get forgotten.
Souls Harbour is one of the few soup kitchens in Regina and they are asking for a little help this summer.
"We have a shortage in food right now and just are trying to encourage the public to donate whether it's through a group effort or an individual that wants to support us or a business," said Rebecca Cochrane, director of development for Souls Harbour.
Summer is usually a lean time for donations, but Cochrane says they have already noticed a drop in donations.
"Our shelves are quite empty and we definitely wanting to get them full before we head into the summer months, knowing that those tend to be slower as well," she explained.
Cochrane says they're asking for donations like canned goods that can be made into casseroles, as well as pasta, cheese, yogurt and fresh vegetables.
People can drop off donations at the mission's Halifax street location. You can also visit their website for more information www.soulsharbourrescuemission.org
