Five people suffered injuries after being bitten by a loose dog on the 50 block of Cambridge Crescent, Thursday night.

Police arrived on scene around 8:00 p.m. to find four children and one adult. An ambulance responded and treated all five individual's injuries at the scene.

The dog's owner intervened before police arrived and secured the dog.

Animal Control has seized the animal and it is now sitting in the city pound.

Brother of dog owner responds

RJ is the dog owner's brother.

He says it's unfortunate that children were hurt when the animal got out.

But he wants people to know the dog came from a loving home.

"He was as much part of our family as anybody else. It just makes me ill that people are assuming that he was badly treated."

RJ believes the animal will be put down by Animal Control.
