Demolition begins on Regina's Plains Hotel
After a year of delays, demolition is beginning at Regina’s Plains Hotel.
It's taken six months to iron out financial and legal issues surrounding the massive project but the beginnings of the demolition have begun as crews began to remove the windows of the hotel on Monday.
Bright Star Corporation's Greg Black explained they'll bring the building down brick by brick over the next few months.
“We expect that we’ll be done sometime around the end of November,” said Black.
He said the company is also close to signing a contract for the construction phase as well.
“We’ve had a good three or four months of detailed planning work ahead of us while this demolition work is going forward,” he said.
He insisted labour isn't expected to be an issue and he still expected the 10 floor hotel and 26 floor condo building will go up on schedule.
Some unhappy buyers have told the company they don't want to wait. Black confirms they'll get their money back. He also notes that there's a waiting list of people interested in buying.
