Churchbridge, Sask. hit by deluge of rain Sunday
People in Churchbridge Saskatchewan are cleaning up after getting soaked by six inches of rain on Sunday.
All it took was a couple of hours before the town of Churchbridge along the Yellowhead highway declared a state of emergency on Sunday night.
"There was water running everywhere around town," explaines Mayor Jim Gallant.
The town began pumping water right away but when Monday morning came there was still quite a bit.
"At the corner we have a Co-op lumber storage and most of that was under water and there's probably four feet of water in there," Gallant said.
By Tuesday the water was brought down enough so that it is flowing naturally where it's supposed to. Gallant says the town will continue to keep the pumps on stand-by in case they have to start them up again.
