Atchison launches re-election bid
Mayor Don Atchison officially kicked off his bid for re-election Wednesday afternoon, using the slogan “progressive Saskatoon” to highlight some of his campaign promises.
Atchison, who was first elected to council in 1994 before taking over the city’s top job in 2003, pledged to maintain a healthy and competitive environment for businesses while keeping the city’s infrastructure “current.”
After the Circle Drive south project is complete, “we need to start working on the north commuter bridge,” said Atchison of the proposed project which he pledges to have completed by 2016.
Atchison also talked about how his leadership over the past years has helped “renew” Saskatoon with major projects such as the Shaw Centre, the Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan and the new police headquarters.
