Line Breaks Keeping SaskEnergy Busy

Remember to "call before you dig"
Story Tools

This summer is becoming a busy one for SaskEnergy. Sadly though it is because crews are getting called out to fix broken gas lines. People are forgetting to call before they dig.

Thursday alone the Crown has been called out to repair half a dozen line breaks across Saskatchewan. And it is becoming a regular part of the day's work. SaskEnergy's Dave Burdeniuk thinks its because construction projects are playing catch-up thanks to all the rain. "People are hurrying and that is what we are finding is contractors are rushing they are forgetting to call ahead or plan ahead."

He describes it as a wasted effort. "It is needlessly putting the construction crew at risk and potentially any risk to surrounding homes and businesses."

Burdeniuk reminds you to call ahead to any of the big Crowns to come out and mark the lines before you dig.
