Regina business say they're looking to hire at a much higher rate than the rest of the country.
A full third of local employers indicate they plan to hire new staff in the next three months. That's according to a new quarterly outlook published by Manpower Inc., a national job placement firm.
While Education and Mining are the big areas of growth in Canada's east, Manpower's Susan Wright-Boucher says the big changes in Saskatchewan are coming from elsewhere.
"The nubmer one sectors showing growth or promise is Transportation and Public Utilities. And we know in Saskatchewan and Manitoba that Transportation and logistics is big business. Coming in second is finance and real estate."
She also notes that Saskatoon has dropped to 34th place out of 46 communities. Only 7% of businesses there plan on hiring in the next quarter. Wright-Boucher says that's a big drop for the city, which has consistently placed much higher in the last several polls.
