Government Hopeful For FNUC

But makes no guarantee on funding

The first step in the road to recovery for the First Nations University has been made. The FSIN Chiefs have agreed at their assembly in Saskatoon to let a partner manage the finances of the institution. The question now is, when will that begin?

Minister Rob Norris thinks it is good news for the students. And now he wants the work to begin to figure out the role the University of Regina will now likely play, ""I think this is a significant step forward in that direction, the partner could manage that money and oversee the operations."

Norris is still making no promises when it comes to funding. He first wants to see the management plan established before money once again becomes part of the equation.

And he also the praises all those involved for laying the ground work for that work to begin, in particular FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild.
