Less than one week after the provincial government put a stop to $5.2 million dollars, we're now learning the federal government won't renew its current funding to university, effective March 31st.
The loss amounts to 7.3 million.
Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development Chuck Strahl says they have worked with FNUC to help it address long-standing, systemic problems related to governance and financial management.
He adds there have been repeated delays by the institution to take action on such matters and the situation can no longer continue.
Strahl says he's instructed his officials to work with the University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan and other stakeholders to find practical solutions that will help students and faculty in the weeks ahead.
News Talk Radio will have more on this story as it develops.
