The futures of students at the First Nations University of Canada are no clearer today than they were yesterday when the province cut funding to the institution.

Advanced Education Minister Rob Norris is calling on the U of R to help FNUC students continue their educations. "We're ready to negotiate with the University of Regina, and other partners, regarding future programming."

FNUC no longer has $5.2 Million in support from the Wall government due to, in part, allegations of financial irregularities.

Norris says the decision wasn't only about dollars and cents. "This is about making sure the investments that are being made, in First Nation and Métis students, that they are able to enjoy and have access to the full value of those dollars."

He says the province is more than willing to add to the funding it gives the U of R to take help make sure the stranded FNUC students can continue their schooling.
