Travel taking off at Regina Airport
More people are flying out of Regina's airport.
President & CEO of the Regina Airport Authority, Jim Hunter, says they've seen a 3.8 per cent increase over the first half of 2012.
Hunter says snowbirds hoping to escape cold Saskatchewan winters are one reason for the improvement.
"We continue to do some very strong charter service and that's what carries our increase, generally speaking," said Hunter.
Flights to Panama are especially doing well.
"Companies that fly down there, Air Transat and Sun Wing, their pretty ruthless. If they don't see success on a route they won't return with it. But they are returning with that one so clearly it was successful."
Hunter does want to see an improvement in domestic services.
"I'd like to see more domestic service here. I think were a bit underserved when it comes to markets like Calgary," he said.
Hunter added that he would also like to see more flights offered to Ottawa year round.
