PHOTOS: Firefighters battle wind, grass fire near White City
The strong wind is giving firefighters a tough fight at a grass fire just outside of Regina near White City.
One RCMP officer on scene said the blaze was first reported by someone driving by on Highway 48.
Delores Richardson, who lives a third of a mile away from where the fire is burning, said she noticed smoke at about 2:30 p.m.
A home nearby is untouched, but some corral fences have burned.
A structure -- described by one person as an outbuilding and by another as a barn -- also burned.
Richardson says a woman lives alone in the yard and raises Arabian horses. The flames appear to be contained in a pasture just west of the woman's yard.
Josh Challand, operations technician, was reached at the White City town office.
He was at the fire and says it's under control. In all, about 10 acres of land have burned.
He says it doesn't appear any person or the animals in the barn were hurt.
