Salvation Army at capacity in Regina, Saskatoon

The Salvation Army has more than 100 beds between Saskatoon and Regina, but even those aren't enough to shelter those in need after the province's first snowfall.

Salvation Army spokesperson Chad Jeremy said they saw a surge in Saskatoon three weeks ago, long before the white blanket came down.

"Every single one of the 68 beds are now full, and now the overflow beds have come into play," he said, referring to simple mattresses laid out on the floor.

The 40 beds in Regina are also mostly filled up as well.

Victor Lau not impressed by NDP and SP tactics

Green Party Leader Victor Lau said he's proud of what his party was able to accomplish in Monday night's election, especially since he took over as party leader only six weeks ago.

He's especially pleased with the NDP's poor showing, led by Dwain Lingenfelter whom Lau called "weak kneed".

"The played the game of campaign from the left and govern from the right, and they saw the results tonight."

Lau claimed that Brad Wall won in Swift Current because he "managed to convince people that he's an okay kind of guy."

NDP's Lingenfelter quits after Sask. election defeat

Dwain Lingenfelter resigned as leader of the Saskatchewan NDP after he lost his seat in Regina Douglas Park to the Sask. Party’s Russ Marchuk.

Lingenfelter’s loss marks the first time in Saskatchewan history that an NDP leader has lost his own seat in a general election.
