On Friday, a mother duck and nine ducklings were seen making their way across the Queen City's busiest streets stopping traffic and gaining attention from people walking by.

Just before lunch, the family of ducks was spotted crossing Saskatchewan Drive with the help of two good Samaritans who blocked traffic so the mother duck and her ducklings could pass safely.

One lady who worked in the downtown area got a box to gather the nine ducklings with hopes of getting them to Wasacana Lake.

The rural municipality (RM) of Sherwood is hoping the announcement of a so-called "mega project" just outside Regina's borders will show the city how serious it is about developing its own land.

Thirteenth Avenue in Regina was packed full of hungry families and eager shoppers as the Cathedral Village Arts Festival wrapped up Saturday.

Buskers and street performers were out entertaining the throngs of festival-goers who enjoyed food-truck meals like mini-donuts, snow cones and hot dogs. Meanwhile, artists and clothiers sold their wares to Regina regulars and out-of-towners alike.

This was the 22nd year for the festival, and although spring showers traditionally put a damper in the festival fun, all were blessed with a warm, sunny day.

A new youth-centric housing project is breaking ground in the Heritage area of Regina.

The Ranch Ehrlo Society held a ceremony on Montreal Street just off 11th Avenue on Monday morning to celebrate the start of construction of "Chaz Court." The site will eventually house a two-storey, eight-unit apartment building. It will offer affordable bachelor suite-style units to young people who are exiting provincial care.

In addition to offering a place for young people to live, the construction is also helping give them another leg up.

Regina fire crews helped contain a grass fire about 10 kms north of the city Tuesday afternoon.

Bales, grassland, and one shed went up in flames by a farmhouse just off of highway 6.

Luckily, strong winds blew the smoke and flames south, and away from a farmhouse just meters away. Nobody was injured.

With flood waters officially receding in most of Saskatchewan as of Monday, the Qu'Appelle Valley north of Regina still faced challenges in farmer's fields and on local roads.

The Water Security Agency admitted in a morning update that the flood threat overall is falling. The valley and towns inside it like Lumsden could see sustained water levels as the Wascana Creek system empties into the area. Its peak flow levels are still expected to stay well below the 2011 mark.

About 10 people from four homes have been displaced after a massive fire ripped through the homes in Saskatoon’s east end Friday morning.

Three homes were destroyed by the fire and a fourth is covered in smoke and water.

Neighbours said they heard pops from explosions and then saw flames around 3 a.m. in the city’s Wildwood neighbourhood.

An update from Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services shows that the blaze started in the garage of 603-415 Heritage Crescent. Officials said some sort of malfunction in the vehicle sparked a flame.

We're still waiting for that big weather warm up and melt here in Regina, but some areas of the city are already under water.

Just off 13th Avenue near the Regina International Airport, Rambler Park and the off-leash dog park would be considered one of those areas. Flood water has covered portions of the ball diamonds, the walking trail and sections of grass. Where there is no water, the ground is soft and very muddy, devouring the shoes of anyone who walks on it; and massive snow piles which have yet to be melted.

The Moose Jaw River is up a couple of feet Wednesday morning and is leaving many areas under water.

Water is over the road near the Burger Cabin, the speed skating oval and the campground in Wakamow.  Water is also over the banks near the Assiniboine Bridge and the 7th Avenue Bridge leading to Valley View.  The Corstorphine Bridge on the eastern edge of the city is under water and can't be used and the river is also touching the bottom of the Deer Ridge Golf Course foot bridge.

Two dogs visiting the University of Regina were wagging away exam stress for dozens of students on Wednesday.

Kevin Chow with the University of Regina Students Union says they decided to offer a 'Puppy Room' as a much needed study break from final exams. The idea started this year at Dalhousie University and quickly spread to other universities across Canada.

“People are stressed and this whole program is designed to help students just to be more relaxed and forget about exams for the few brief minutes that they’re here,” he explained.
