Seriously, we always hear about how different Riders do different things for their community, but this guy is taking it over the top. First of all, the fan favorite figured the best way to make a difference in his city, was to become a member of the Regina City Council, so he ran, and now, he's representing Ward 10. (I am also planning on running for council in Saskatoon sometime soon, on a platform based on being awesome, and bringing in a Boondock Saints Style Vigilante Justice Super Team to take out all the pathetic, wannabe thug losers who are starting to pop up around town. I know Gorms doesn't think that's the answer, but I digress.)
So what does the Canuck Truck do next? I imagine the thought that went through his head went something like this: "Well, I have helped my team win a Grey Cup with my awesome gritty style of play, I am currently helping my neighborhood/city grow and become a better place to live, well I guess I could make a difference on the world scale, who really needs my help now.......... how about Haiti? Sounds good, let's do it................... and man, that Gary Nickle guy is really cool and awesome."
So he goes to earthquake ravaged Haiti with a group of incredible Saskatchewan folks, and they make a difference. So he get's home, and says "I can do more." Now, my pal Tammy, Szarks and their pal Barry (who sells that wicked good popcorn at the Saskatoon Farmer's market) got together, and out of that meeting came The Petit Timoun Project, and A Night Out For Haiti.
If you want to be as awesome as Chris Szarka, you can help out too. The Night Out takes place this Thursday, June 3rd, at 5:30pm, at the BarKing Fish, in Saskatoon. (I hope they let me and the ol' playoff beard in, that place is classy!) Not only are you helping an incredibly important cause, but if you ever had the thought "I wish I could ask Szarks what it was like to score that crazy game winning touchdown?" or "I wish Szarks knew how awesome he is, if only there was a way I could tell him...." you are in luck.
You can come to this event, and chat up Chris yourself. All you have to do is call 1-306-230-8623, or 1-306-244-0864, and buy a 75 dollar ticket/donation, and along with a talk with Chris, you will also get some wonderful food and wine, and a great feeling of self worth, knowing you did something, knowing you made a difference. Or, check out Chris and grab some BBQ and an autograph at Saskatoon's Vaughn Wyant Automotive Group (Jubilee Ford) on Thursday June 3rd from 3.30 - 5.30pm.
Well Loucks keeps looking at me as if to say "Get back to work man!", so I better do just that, but for more information, a website will be up very soon, and you can visit that site here .
I really hope to see you all on Thursday.
