Saturday’s Rider-Stampeder McMahon matchup features the two best teams in the west division, yet two teams that played some of their worst football last week.
In a 26-21 loss to the Lions, the mighty 12 and 3 Calgary Stampeders were held in check by the B.C. defense. On the other side of the ball, Stampeder defenders couldn’t stop Tyrell Sutton. Sutton had 106 yards in rushing and two touchdowns. It could be argued that the Stampeders are vulnerable. Remember, even though the Stamps won, Calgary only scored 12 points against the Montreal Alouettes on Thanksgiving Monday.
Saskatchewan doesn’t look like a team that can take advantage of the vulnerable right now. The Green and White were blown out by Winnipeg last Saturday in a game where many players struggled. After being beaten, the Riders had to deal with the Charleston Hughes controversy in the days leading up to this showdown with Calgary.
The Stampeders appear to be the team that can “return to form” quicker than the Riders.
Calgary 41, Saskatchewan 28.
