The Toronto Maple Leafs deserve a ton of credit for winning two elimination games and forcing the Boston Bruins to a game seven in their first round Stanley Cup playoff series.
The Leafs have really had to lean on Frederik Andersen in that time. He has done much more than just “steal a game” here and there.
In Toronto’s three wins in this series, they have been out shot 120-81.
In game five, a game that Toronto won 4-3, the Bruins out shot the Leafs 45-21.
This may be a challenge for a young Toronto team, but the Leafs will have to possess the puck for the majority of game seven.
That means getting physical.
Boston won a lot of puck battles in games one and two of this series, and badly out-hit the Leafs in the second game. That can’t happen again.
Frederik Andersen has done his part. If Toronto is going to win game seven, they need to play big against the big bad Bruins.
