A Vibank man has a decision to make: whether to live in a $1.4 million home in The Creeks neighbourhood in southeast Regina or do something else with it.
Derrick Fink is the winner of the grand prize in the latest Hospitals of Regina Foundation (HRF) home lottery.
“The part that I have seen I can’t complain, she’s very nice, a lot nicer than anything I’ve owned up ’til now,” said Fink after he toured some of his new digs.
“It’ll be pretty interesting to see the rest and decide what we figure out we’re going to do with it.”
Fink quietly entered the home, checking out the main level before finding his spot on a couch in front of a large flat-screen television in the living room.
Although Fink is unsure if the home has a long-term future in his life, there is no question he will be spending time in it.
“I’m definitely going to probably stay here for a little while, maybe I build a new house out at the farm or to put in a renovation or maybe I’ll fall in love with it and stay. Who knows?”
Fink said he buys tickets for the HRF home lottery every year, along with other similar local lotteries.
“I kind of think I do well enough to give back on some level,” explained Fink, adding the HRF lottery is local and he knows where the money is going.
The other winners of the lottery included Shane Hannah, of Regina, who won the Lincoln and Luxury early bird prize; Darcy Jenkins, of Regina, who won the 50/50 Add-on of $385,915; and Montunrayo Adeyoju, of Regina, who has the choice of a BMW, Acura or $55,000 cash.
The complete list of winners will be published on the Hospitals of Regina Foundation Home Lottery website on May 12.
