Get rid of all video reviews in all sports! Start right now with the NHL playoffs. Video review is ruining another sport.
My opinion hasn’t changed since the CFL declared it was going to allow coaches to challenge defensive pass interference penalties. The CFL said that was the game’s most serious penalty, so it would be the only penalty that could be challenged. Everyone who was smarter than CFL coaches said, “Don’t do it! It’s a slippery slope! You’re going to want to challenge everything!”
Now CFL coaches can challenge just about everything. In baseball, basketball, American football and hockey they’re also expanding video review. Everyone expects video reviews to fix everything. After Anaheim beat Edmonton in an overtime game, Oiler fans were screaming about the officiating, bemoaning video review and the inability of video review to fix the game. They should have been complaining about the Oilers’ inability to stop Anaheim’s Ryan Getzlaf, who scored twice and added two assists.
