Track star Astrid Nyame and hockey goalie Jordon Cooke are the University of Saskatchewan’s female and male athletes of the year.
Nyame won gold at both the Canada West and U SPORTS championships in the 60-metre hurdles. Her time of 8.31 seconds is the second fastest in program history.
It’s a second straight for Cooke as male athlete of the year. He was also named U Sports’ top goalie for a second consecutive season.
The former CHL goalie of the year added a Spengler Cup gold with Team Canada to his trophy case in December, and took home a silver medal at the 2017 University Cup.
