A story about a little boy’s haircut has blown up across the Internet this week.
It started with a Facebook post by Lydia Rosebush. The Louisville, Ky. mom wrote that her son Jax had asked her to give him a buzz cut matching that of his best friend, Reddy.
The idea was to confuse their teacher by showing up to school looking exactly alike.
In her post, Rosebush wrote that she was sure her readers would see the resemblance.
Rosebush wrote that the anecdote serves as a reminder that racism is learned behaviour.
The story has since been picked up by news outlets around the world. By late Friday morning, the original post had been shared well over 80,000 times.
