A New Year’s Eve robbery in Regina resulted in two men being arrested and two employees being injured.
According to a release from the Regina Police Service, police were called to The Tap off-sale on Rochdale Boulevard for a report of a robbery around 9:57 p.m. on Saturday night.
Two men, Thomas Chartrand and Charles Wapan, tried to steal a bottle of alcohol. Two staff members were able to wrestle the bottle away from the suspects but were injured when Chartrand swung a machete which struck their hands.
The men left on foot but police were able to find and arrest both men.
Thomas Chartrand was charged with robbery, two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and several breaching of condition charges.
Charles Wapan was charged with robbery and breach of probation.
The employees’ injuries were minor.
