A Chinese businessman wants to build a biblical theme park in southern Saskatchewan complete with a massive replica of Noah’s ark.
The yet-to-be-named park, with a three-storey boat containing animal reproductions, would be build next to a private cemetery outside Moose Jaw.
Marc L’Hoir with Sunset Cemetery is working with the developer on the plan.
He says workers from China would be brought over to spend four years building the park at a cost of about $1.2 million.
The Rural Municipality of Moose Jaw approved earlier this week the development of a “passive park” with a walking path, statues and murals.
Administrator Mike Wirges says he was surprised to learn a giant ark was part of the plan, and further approvals will be needed from the province and possibly Nav Canada, since there is a nearby air-force base.
