A two-day crime spree in Regina has landed two people in custody.
On July 19, police received a report of an assault in the 1300 block of King Street in Regina. A woman, 32, and man, 24, allegedly assaulted a 26-year-old woman, who was restrained and prevented from leaving a home.
Police said officers found a stolen vehicle driven by the male suspect the same day. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but it sped away at a high rate of speed.
The next day, police saw the two suspects together in a vehicle in the 1800 block of North Service Road in east Regina. Police tried to arrest the man, who had exited the vehicle. The suspect resisted, jumped back into the vehicle, and drove away.
Both suspects drove onto Ring Road where witnesses said one of the vehicle’s doors were open and the male suspect had a gun in plain view while driving. The vehicle headed outside the city where it was eventually stopped by RCMP near Punnichy. The suspects were then arrested.
Keli William Stonechild, 24, and Kristen Marie Lerat are facing several charges including aggravated assault, forcible confinement and uttering threats.
Both made their first court appearance at provincial court in Regina Tuesday.
