Saskatchewan’s police services will be stepping up their enforcement in road work and construction zones in July.
Police will be on the lookout for drivers who are speeding through work zones, ignoring signage as well as other infractions.
According to SGI in 2014 there were over 200 collisions in work zones in Saskatchewan. These collisions killed one person and injured 48 people. 2014 also saw over 800 people fined for speeding through work zones.
SGI is asking drivers to remember.
- To slow to 60 km/h or the posted speed limit in work zones.
- Obey work zone signs.
- Posted speed limits are in effect even when workers are not on site as road surfaces could be rough.
More information on work zone safety can be found at SGI’s website.
