Leave it to Bieber fans to step up for a good cause.
Rawlco Radio station C95 gathered donations for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre Wednesday, and offered up a chance to win a Justin Bieber VIP Concert Experience.
To enter the contest, listeners were encouraged to stuff a Saskatoon Transit bus with non-perishable food items; every bag of groceries donated was a chance to win.
In total, 5,432 pounds of food was raised for the cause.
Some of the outstanding contributions made throughout the day included 100 bottles of infant formula and dozens of pre-made grocery bags filled with non-perishable food items from Your Independent Grocer, where donations were being accepted.
Baby formula is on the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre’s most wanted items list, which also includes canned soups and stews, whole grain pastas and cereals, canned vegetables, beans and proteins and 100 per cent real fruit juices.
The winner was announced by Rob, Shauna and Lena during the C95 morning show on Thursday, the same day Bieber takes the stage at a sold-out SaskTel Centre.
