There could be a whole lot more people voting in the coming provincial election.
According to Elections Saskatchewan, there are 150,000 more eligible voters registered ahead of voting day on April 4 than were registered for the last provincial election in 2011.
There are approximately 815,000 eligible voters in Saskatchewan, and the coverage rate is at 92 per cent – in 2011 76 per cent of eligible voters were registered before election day.
“This is a significant improvement in the quality of the list, and is a result of several busy months of promoting registration, having voters register, and updating voters’ identity and address information,” said Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan in a news release.
The voters list closed on Wednesday night, but for those not registered to vote yet, they can still register in person at the poll.
