Fresh off a release that an increase in break-and-enters and robberies has helped propel Saskatoon to the top of the crime charts in Canada, police have released information about three such incidents and two arrests.
The first happened on July 13, between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. A man broke into an apartment in City Park. A man and woman inside woke up and the suspect fled.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his mid to late 40’s, five feet ten inches tall and 220 pounds with an average build. He had grey and black hair, with a receding hairline, a ‘brush cut’ style and a goatee.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
Police arrested a 28-year-old woman and 25-year-old man, both from Saskatoon, in a second break-and-enter Friday.
Officers were called to a home in the 100 blocks of Dunlop Street around 12:30 a.m. Someone in the home said they heard someone trying to break in and police found a man and woman at the home.
Police searched their car and found tools that are commonly used in break-ins, along with a wallet that had been reported stolen out of another car.
The pair appeared in court Friday on charges of possession of break-and-enter tools, possession of stolen property, and possession of marijuana. The man also faces charges of breach of probation while the woman was wanted on several outstanding warrants.
An armed robbery happened Friday around 1:30 a.m. at a convenience store in the 400 block of Kenderdine Road.
A worker said a man entered the store, threatened the worker with a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes before taking off.
The man is described as Caucasian, 15 to18 years old and five foot seven inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing black pants and a blue hoodie which had grey sleeves.
