Days after a 21-year-old Regina man was seriously injured in a boat accident on Echo Lake near B-Say-Tah, Joe Reidy is reassuring his friends he is okay.
Reidy was airlifted to hospital in Regina Monday night after being hit by a pontoon boat. Once in hospital surgery was performed to amputate most of his right arm.
He alleges that he was hit Monday night while kayaking, by a boat with its lights turned off. The Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP, who responded to the scene, would not comment on Reidy’s Facebook post seen below.
However, initial reports from the RCMP state that a “pontoon boat, driven by an adult male, hit a 21-year-old male from Regina who was swimming” in Echo Lake, not kayaking. The RCMP continue to investigate the accident.
The RCMP confirms that prior to the accident both parties had been drinking.
